Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:
Valencia Shelter Services provides services to individuals and families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse in Valencia County. We are an advocacy based organization providing comprehensive services in a trauma informed environment to individuals and families in crisis. Our organization provides services that will provide essential learning opportunities such as:
• Twenty-four hour crisis line assisting individuals seeking immediate support
• Helen’s House, an emergency domestic violence and sexual assault shelter
• La Vida Nueva, a transitional housing program for eligible families leaving a shelter.
• Batterer’s Intervention Group, a 52 week group for domestic violence offenders.
• Legal Advocacy Program
• Mental Health Therapy that consists of individual counseling and therapy for adults and children who have been abused as well as though who are still in an abusive environment.
