Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:

First Nations Youth Mentoring Program is providing free afterschool tutoring to students struggling with academics at Emerson ES.
We are looking for tutors who can commit to 1 hour per week to help with homework. Volunteers will be matched one-to-one with a child or work with a group, depending on volunteer preference. Bilingual tutors are highly encouraged, however all volunteers are needed. Since students are in elementary school, a specialized educational background is not required and staff members will be present at all times to answer questions. Working with kids is fun and rewarding, and just one hour per week can make a world of difference for a child's academic performance and self-esteem!
Tutoring is held Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:15-5pm, and volunteers can choose any time slot. Please don't hesitate to contact for additional information.
