Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

We are seeking volunteers to help with the continuing restoration of the 1944 circa Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe steam locomotive number 2926 to running condition. The locomotive will be used for excursion tours in New Mexico and around the southwest. It will also serve as an educational tour the force tool to educate the public about New Mexico’s rich railroad heritage.

Additional Requirements: 

No special experience is required but a desire to help, although welding, boiler, machining and other technical skills are in demand. All are welcome and all are needed. Volunteers may work on the locomotive or in the office helping with fundraising, grant writing, event planning, newsletter writing and project management commensurate with their interests, skill sets and project needs.
