Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

We need people to help clean the mews (enclosures) where wild birds are kept. There are opportunities on Tuesday or Friday mornings from about 9 am to noon. We also have need of people to transport injured animals to us when rescuers cannot do it themselves. After several months of commitment, a volunteer can request to become a handler/educator to work directly with the animals. Visit www.NewMexicoWildlifeCenter.org to learn more.

Additional Requirements: 

After two weeks, volunteer becomes a subpermittee under New Mexico Wildlife Center authorizing him/her to go into mews to work around the animals. Patience and a quiet demeanor are helpful.
