Dates Volunteer is Needed:
Most of the need occurs during June through September when the museum is open to the public. The museum hours are 10 am to 4 pm Wednesday through Sunday. Some special events also take place in April, May and October.
Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:
. Greet and interact with visitors (approx. 50,000 each year).
. Interpret historic museum exhibits, as your time allows, during the season
Live and Learn the Village Life of Colonial New Mexico
. Assist visitors with hands-on craft and food activities, such as candle making and bread baking
Special Events
. Assist with programs during summer theme weekends and special festivals celebrating the seasons
Weaving Program
. Learn the skills of the loom in the tradition of the Rio Grande Valley
Junior Volunteers
. Young people contribute and learn through our J. V. program
BEHIND THE SCENES VOLUNTEER PROJECTS
· Catalog slides and photos
· Make costumes and help maintain our collection
· Assist with office mailings and manage phone calls during special events
· Help prepare special exhibits
· Research and develop hands-on activities
· Hosting and helping out at special events throughout the year

Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project:
Las Golondrinas welcomes thousands of guests every year, many of them school children. Though an immersive, educational experience we invite guests to see what life was like in historic New Mexico. The activities children can participate in are in alignments with the state of New Mexico's standards and benchmarks.
