Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

The Southwest Secondary Learning Center is looking for volunteers to serve on their Governing Council. The school is a very high performing state-chartered charter school in Albuquerque. The Governing Council of a charter school provides oversight in three key areas – academics, financial and operational. The Council meets once a month and participates in occasional joint meetings with other councils throughout the year. Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project: 

Southwest Secondary Learning Center has 280 students in grades 7 through 12. There are 9 teachers and 3 educational assistants. These students and their families, the teachers and the staff will be directly impacted by this volunteer position.

There are no skill requirements for this position other than a passion for the education of our youth. Any business, finance or management experience is beneficial.
