Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Group 800 of Civil Air Patrol oversees the School Enrichment Program (SEP) in New Mexico. The SEP program has 2 parts, the first is the School Elective Classes. These classes are introduced into Middle and High School and provide Leadership and Aerospace Education. The curriculum is based on the material that all CAP Cadets use and it meets all State and National standards for STEM and Social Studies. The second is a CAP School Squadron which is organized as a Cadet Squadron, which usually meets after school.

Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project: 

The SEP is offered to youth that are 12 years old or who completed 6th grade to to Cadets who are 21. Then they could become Senior members who are over 18 up to more then 99. With the SEP in School we reach all of the students in the school we operate in and the after school program reaches many lives in the community.

Nonprofit Will Provide: 

Cadets fly in CAP aircraft (Airplanes, Gliders, and Balloons), learn to lead, assist in disaster relief, receive search and rescue training, learn customs and courtesies, hike, get in shape, and push yourself to new limits. If you are dreaming about a career in aviation, aerospace, or the military the CAP Program is for you.

For adults, those over 18 you have the opportunity to make a difference in a CAP Cadet/youth. You are also able to receive extensive training in different specialties, flight operations, emergency services, STEM, communications and provide leadership in your community. Are you interested in Emergency Services, Aerospace Education, the Cadet Program, or managing the Squadron? We need your help.

All adult leaders are subject to a background check.
