Dates Volunteer is Needed:
Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:
Barrett House Shelter houses women and women with children who are struggling with homelessness. A community garden on the shelter's property helps feed the women and children on a daily basis along with providing an opportunity to observe and learn about gardening. We are looking for couple of gardeners that would like to help sustain the vegetable garden, both raised beds and greenhouse, through three seasons of growing each year. This would include leading, as a team member with current volunteers, to plan the seeding, planting, harvesting, pest control, watering and all the general maintenance that comes with vegetable gardening.
Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project:
The 400+ per year women and children will benefit from the ongoing success of the community garden.
