Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Our interns work directly with our families to provide resource support and referrals to everything from food support and counseling services to transportation resources and access to durable medical equipment.
The intern will listen to the stories of the families staying at Casa Esperanza and gain new understanding into the challenges that face families traveling for medical treatment.

Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project: 

Families facing cancer and other serious medical needs will be directly impacted as the intern matches meaningful resources to the family's specific need(s). Not only does the intern utilize resources in Albuquerque while the family is here, they also research the family's hometown to identify resources available to the family once they return home.

Nonprofit Will Provide: 

A work station, computer, phone and training will be provided. Supervision by a retired MSW will provide the intern with professional guidance during their time at Casa Esperanza.

Additional Requirements: 

Family studies interns must pass a background check and be a current or recent student enrolled in a social services major.
