Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Albuquerque Senior Squadron II of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is seeking licensed, experienced pilots for volunteer emergency services work. We perform vital air search-and-rescue flights across New Mexico every year, saving lives and performing other missions to serve New Mexico and the nation.

We serve the entire state of New Mexico. CAP is a great opportunity to fly. Our work is fun and exciting among a great group of volunteers, but our work is also serious business requiring constant training and a dedication to excellence that will keep you on your toes.

o Numerous opportunities to fly funded missions serving the community and saving lives

o Opportunities for training in areas like mountain flying, night flying, etc.

o CAP members are eligible to join the Kirtland AFB Aero Club

o Great camaraderie, networking, friendship and trading of knowledge with your fellow pilots and other members in the squadron

o Expanding your skills through numerous professional development opportunities both within and beyond our emergency services activities

o Earning promotions in rank, awards and decorations for your achievements

o The opportunity to also serve CAP's youth development and aerospace education mission aspects

Additional Requirements: 

o A current FAA private pilot's license

o A minimum of 1,000 hours logged as a PIC

o Instrument & commercial ratings are a major plus

o Garmin G1000 avionics training/experience is also a plus, but not necessary

o Experience towing gliders and working with youth

o All new CAP members must pass FBI background/fingerprint check and are required to undergo cadet protection training
