Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:
Holocaust and Intolerance Museum of New Mexico is in need of dedicated and committed volunteers to further our mission of “eliminating hate and intolerance one mind at a time.” The museum, located at 616 Central Ave. SW, is staffed almost exclusively by volunteers.
The ideal volunteer can commit to one 4.5 hour shift to work the front desk, greet visitors, schedule group visits and answer questions. The museum also needs a staff of volunteers on an “as needed basis” to be docents, educators in our outreach program, librarians, archivists and assistants for special functions and fundraising projects.
Volunteer training is provided and work schedules are flexible.
Areas of Interest:
Advocacy and Human Rights
Education and Literacy
Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project:
The impact of the museum extends beyond the City of Albuquerque and across the State of New Mexico. Tourists who step into the museum are moved by its powerful message. By engaging through our educational outreach programs, students and adults are able to learn the lessons of history and take a stand against injustice. The museum also offers training workshops for educators and volunteers.
