Dates Volunteer is Needed: 
Every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5-7 and other times when clients are in skills-based or community meetings. Intermittent full day childcare during school vacations.

Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Providing childcare to children staying at a shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness. The position will lead healthy and engaging indoor and outdoor activities while their mothers attend community meetings, onsite life skills training and counseling.

Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project: 

Childcare volunteers are essential in helping women attending counseling, community meetings, and life-skills training. Children at Barrett have recently experienced homelessness and are in emergency shelter. The activities they engage in with caring adults at Barrett House in our library/game room, and outdoor playground can have a healing and protective impact on their development.

Activity materials such as games, crafts and outdoor play equipment as well as snacks.

Additional Requirements: 

Volunteers must have successful experience working with children as well as a commitment to their healthy development. Background check , interview and excellent references are also required before start. Volunteers will be expected to commit to regular weekly times that last between 1 to 2 hours.
