Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

The Southwest Preparatory Learning Center is a state-chartered charter school and therefore, has its own Governing Council that provides oversight in three key areas – academics, financial and operational.

Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project: 

The school is in its 13th year and is one of the top performing charter schools in the state. We serve Albuquerque children in grades 4 through 8.

Nonprofit Will Provide: 

This position is strictly volunteer.

Additional Requirements: 

Council members are required to receive 7 hours of training each year. Training opportunities are provided by the New Mexico Public Education Department monthly in various cities in the state.
