Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Many Mothers matches trained volunteers with families following the birth or adoption of a new baby. You will provide the physical, emotional and practical support new parents need to reduce the stress and anxiety often experienced during this wonderful time. Volunteers support parents in various ways. This can include snuggling the baby while mom takes a shower or rests, engaging and playing with older siblings, helping with light housework, listening to the parent and providing emotional support, and so much more.

Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project: 

Welcoming a new baby into your family is time not meant to be dealt with alone. With care and compassion, our volunteers provide companionship and support to mothers during the early weeks with their baby. Mothers in their postpartum journey, their infants and family will benefit from having caring support in the home while they adjust to welcoming a new baby.

Volunteers will receive an in-depth training before being placed in a home. Many Mothers also offers paid learning opportunities on topics such as Perinatal Mental Health, CPR/First Aid, Safe Sleep, Lactation, Newborn Care, and many others. Volunteers also regularly gather with the Many Mothers team for social outings, peer support and connection.

Additional Requirements: 

Must have reliable transportation and be able to pass a background check.
