Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:
This position is on Sat/Sun; must be able to attend meetings during the week. The Crisis Response Advocate provides advocacy for survivors of sexual violence on the hotline and in-person. Other duties include maintaining accurate files and records of each service provided. The Crisis Response Advocate may be asked to cover extra hours outside of their shift as needed.
Areas of Responsibility:
• A minimum of one year direct service experience
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Must be willing to collaborate with other agencies and participate in outreach activities
• Ability to adhere to strict standards of confidentiality
• Must obtain Criminal Records Background clearance
• Access to own vehicle and telephone
• Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) preferred
• Bachelor Degree preferred
Must complete our 40 hour RCC Advocacy Training in September 2017.
Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project:
The Rape Crisis Center of Central New Mexico (RCCCNM) provides emotional support and advocacy to survivors of sexual assault and abuse throughout Central New Mexico, and serves as a community resource on issues regarding prevention and awareness of sexual assault and abuse.
