The Treasurer attends all board meetings, understands accounting for nonprofits and serves as a member of the Budget and Personnel Committee which meets prior to each regularly scheduled board meeting. The treasurer also works with the Executive Director and Finance Manager to ensure that appropriate financial reports are given to the board on a timely basis, presents the nonprofit's annual budget for board approval, reviews annual audits and answers board members' questions.

The Arc of New Mexico’s annual budget is about two million dollars. The chapter is one of over 700 chapters nationwide affiliated with The Arc National Office in Washington, DC.
