Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

The TLS Board of Directors comprises leaders from the nonprofit and for-profit sectors as well as consumers of mental health services, who are dedicated to the organization’s mission.
Serving on the TLS Board of Directors is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about strengthening leadership and governance in the nonprofit sector.
Board members are expected to have the financial acumen to read and understand TLS’s financial statements and to otherwise help the board fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities.
Board members are expected to attend 1 board meeting per month. They are expected to read board materials in advance of board meetings and to come prepared to ask questions and participate in discussions.
Board members are expected to responsibly represent TLS to their respective communities and to advocate for TLS’s mission, programs, and services as appropriate.

TLS is a community mental health center that provides comprehensive community support services and housing options for severly mentally-ill adults. Our programs emphasize individual readiness and teach the philosophy that everyone possesses the ability to recover and get their life back on track.
