Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

What: 40 Hour Volunteer Advocate Training with the Rape Crisis Center of Central New Mexico
When: November 6-8 and November 13-15.
Friday sessions run from 5pm-8pm and Saturday & Sunday sessions from 9am-5:30pm
Where: At our main office 9741 Candelaria NE, Albuquerque, NM, 87112

The Training: A comprehensive 40 Hour training meant to provide
• Crisis intervention skills.
• Listening skills.
• Anti-oppression training.
• Knowledge about sexual violence and its causes and effects.
• Cultural awareness: working within a diverse community.
• Understanding of community resources.
• Skills for advocating for Survivors within the criminal justice system.
• Personal growth and a better understanding of the world around you.
• A good feeling about yourself and your desire to help!

Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project: 

You will be trained to provide advocacy to survivors of Sexual Violence and Sexual Assault.

Additional Requirements: 

Volunteers must be willing to undergo a background check.
