Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:
Volunteer Board Member (Advocacy Interest / Racial Equity Focus)
Board members are expected to attend 12 board meetings/year, to serve on one or more committees of the board, and to actively participate in committee work. The Board Member's responsibilities include advising on strategic plans, participating in evaluations, and monitoring its financial affairs. You should also prepare for board meetings, attend them regularly and actively participate in them.
Board Member Requirements:
Diversity on a board breeds varying opinions, approaches, attitudes and solutions. Therefore we require all board members to be open-minded, curious, accepting, responsive and willing to work together. Volunteers should have knowledge of the organization and the relevant industry, sufficient time and availability for board duties, and a willingness to talk about how race impacts immigrant justice. Previous board experience is preferred, but not necessary. Onboarding will include training.
