Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Sandoval County CASA recently was awarded the contract for the Valencia County CASA program and is seeking about 50 volunteers from the Valencia County area. Volunteers receive training from the Volunteer Coordinator and once sworn in by the judge, are assigned a case to follow. This entails becoming thoroughly knowledgeable about the child, getting to know not only the child but the foster parents, teachers, therapists, etc. Periodic reports to the court assist the judge to make determinations in the best interest of the child.

Additional Requirements: 

Background as a teacher, social worker, nurse is not necessary. However, a sincere need to help children, who through no fault of their own, are swept up in the foster care system.
