Dates Volunteer is Needed:
Flexible, but most commonly for 1 to 3 hours every week or every other week.
Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:
Docents guide tours of Casa for small groups of visiting public. Tours are theme-based and training is provided. Tours are one hour in length. Docents also lead school groups and summer camps (except during December and January when the Museum is closed). Most visiting school groups are in the third to eighth grades, however we try to accommodate as many interested groups as we can. During special events visitors tour the property at their own pace interacting with docents at stations throughout. At these times, docents help with crowd control and safety for the museum furnishings as well as education. They may also assist by leading a simple craft or other activity.
Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project:
Currently, docents engage visiting school groups and public visitors of all ages in rich conversations and learning activities on the topics of long-standing New Mexican creativity and tenacity. New docent volunteer opportunities are currently being developed. Please contact Museum staff to find out about a wider range of involvement in our deepening community service.
