Be A Docent With Us

Volunteer your time to share the unique history and culture of our communities. Helping at Casa is Meaningful: we help over 400 students a month explore how ordinary New Mexicans accomplish extraordinary things. It’s also Flexible: Casa Docents support public tours and large public events throughout the year according to their schedule. Casa is an Enriching environment: we offer regular docent-exclusive enrichment activities with invited speakers and tours to important New Mexican places.

Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:

Docents guide tours of Casa for small groups of visiting public. Tours are theme-based and training is provided. Tours are one hour in length. Docents also lead school groups and summer camps (except during December and January when the Museum is closed). Most visiting school groups are in the third to eighth grades, however we try to accommodate as many interested groups as we can. During special events visitors tour the property at their own pace interacting with docents at stations throughout. At these times, docents help with crowd control and safety for the museum furnishings as well as education. They may also assist by leading a simple craft or other activity.
