Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Tutor ​1st​ ​through​ ​8th​ ​grade​ ​students on a weekly basis. Tutors focus​ ​on​ ​Reading​/Writing ​and​ ​Math as well as help with any other specific school project/assignments in progress.

We need 5-8​ ​Volunteers​ ​per​ ​tutoring​ ​session​. Tutors are encouraged to establish relationships with specific students if possible so they can be a more effective student/tutor team.

Horizons​ ​is​ ​a​ ​nationally​ ​recognized​ ​academic​ ​enrichment​ ​program​ ​that​ ​addresses​ ​the​ ​achievement gap​ ​and​ ​summer​ ​learning​ ​loss​ ​for​ ​public​ ​school​ ​students​ ​from​ ​low-income​ ​families​ ​that​ ​qualify​ ​under the​ ​federal​ ​income​ ​guidelines​ ​for​ ​free​ ​or​ ​reduced​ ​lunch.​
