Dates Volunteer is Needed:
3/9/2019 at 8am for loaders, at 9:30 am for planters
Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:
Help Tree New Mexico and Downtown Neighborhood Association plant 100 trees in DNA as part of the ABQ NeighborWoods program! The event lasts from 8 A.M. when we start loading trees and delivering them to their planting sites through 9:30 A.M. for our planting a tree training, and on through about 1:30 P.M. while we plant all the trees.
Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project:
Downtown Neighborhood Association neighborhood is below the average tree canopy for Albuquerque, so we are planting trees for shade along sidewalks and yards. These trees help to reduce the heat island effect, help make the neighborhood more walk-able, help with safety as trees provide traffic calming, and the trees also reduce energy costs and provide wildlife habitat.
