Description:

In January, UNM is holding an “Expanding You Horizons” conference, which strives to “include hands-on actives in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). At the conference, girls will get a chance to meet STEM role models and learn more about careers in those fields. Our ultimate goal is to motivate girls to become innovative and creative thinkers ready to meet 21st Century challenges.” It would be great if our 4th and 5th grade girls could attend. Being a Title 1 school, most of our students struggle with basic needs and cannot afford the $15 fee to register.

Who Will Be Impacted by This Donation:
Fourth and fifth grade girls attending Longfellow Elementary will be affected. Getting these young girls excited about STEM fields will trickle to their male and female siblings. Finally, the potential excitement and discussion created by this conference and these content areas will also encourage our teachers to further incorporate these subjects.
