Project Description: 

Conservation and restoration work on a bird-banding/watching trail. This project will improve habitat for the birds and bird watchers! Project work will be done in association with the City of Albuquerque Open Space.

More Details: 

This bird banding trail sits amongst HUGE cottonwood trees where birds flourish. The trail also hugs the Rio Grande River at one point. There are 2-3 tasks that need to be done to restore and maintain this trail: 1) Removal of invasive small tree species. These saplings (small) trees can be removed using lopers and/or hand saws. 2) 3 small trail signs need to be installed along the trail. This does not include cement work. Post hole diggers and digging bars will be used to install the trail signs. 3) Removal of invasive weeds along one section of an installed swale and around an outdoor classroom. Some of these weeds can be pulled out by hand, others require hand tools such as Mcleods or Mattocks.

Nonprofit/Agency will provide: 
Gloves, lopers, hand saws, mcleods, and mattocks. Snacks, water and beverages.

Additional Requirements: 
Bring suntan lotion, refillable water bottle, sunglasses, insect repellent, and sun hat. Wear long pants, sturdy hiking shoes. Bring light weight, long-sleeved shirt in addition to your regular shirt to prevent getting scratched.
