Assistance Dogs of the West
Agency Description:
Through educational and vocational programs, Assistance Dogs of the West provides trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities. We teach students to train dogs to help people. Since 1995, 1700 NM student trainers have helped prepare 175 dogs for placement, 80% to clients in NM and 20% across US.
Position Description:
ADW Board members (12 to 16) provide strategic oversight and have fiduciary responsibility for the agency. 6 Board meetings annually in Santa Fe, with Board committee meetings held alternate months. Board supports an active and enthusiastic staff and successful, in demand programs.
Expectations:
The Board is ultimately responsible for setting ADW’s strategic direction, and ultimately responsible for ensuring that ADW serves its mission and purpose. The Board is ultimately responsible for the financial health of the organization. ADW Board members commit to an annual financial contribution and actively support resource development efforts.
