Workers Justice Organizer

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

0rganize low-wage workers to combat discrimination and exploitation in the workplace. Engage in policy advocacy campaigns to advance workers' justice and family economic security and grow power with low-wage workers in New Mexico. Organize and develop strategies with El CENTRO's workers' committee/s. Strengthen El CENTRO's leadership development pipeline. Participate in strategic collaborations.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Develop strategies that: improve conditions for low-wage workers, gain political power and grow the low-wage workers' movement, and conduce to low-wage workers' impacting systemic change. Strengthen skills building, training, concientización, and the leadership development pipeline. Develop, coordinate, and conduct organizing and workers' rights trainings for the membership and low wage workers, and strategies with workers' committee to include direct action, communications, and legal strategies.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Has demonstrated a commitment to social justice, immigrants' rights, and/or workers' rights.
Direct experience working with communities of color and low-wage workers.
Bilingual skills (English and Spanish).
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Experience and knowledge regarding leadership development and policy advocacy is a plus.
Experience in community organizing and/or issue-based campaign work is a plus.
Computer skills are a plus.
