Volunteer Advocate Coordinator

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Oversee volunteers for the 24-hour hotline and hospital advocacy program
Maintain database and volunteer contact information
Track volunteer hours
Coordinate 40-hour training at least twice each year
Retain volunteers through helpful feedback
Implement community programs
Organize service provider trainings
Provide crisis support services
Grant reporting
Attend community events
Build community partnerships
Supervise and mentor student interns

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

The position is responsible for recruiting, training, and retention of volunteers to staff the 24 hour crisis hotline and hospital advocacy program; coordinating the schedule with the volunteers and staff, and communicating regularly with volunteers via mailings, phone calls, and personal interaction to process cases, answer questions and give support. In addition, this position is responsible for providing crisis services to victims/survivors.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Bachelor’s Degree in related field
Volunteer recruitment experience
Advocacy experience preferred
Excellent communication skills
Collaborative leadership skills
Able to work independently
Access to own vehicle
Able to work with other agencies
Conduct working relationships to promote respect and improvement of services
Sensitivity to cultural, class and relational diversity issues
Strict confidentiality standards
Criminal Records Background clearance
Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) preferred
