VISTA Volunteers

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness is currently recruiting AmeriCorps*VISTA volunteers to work with non-profit agencies that provide services and housing to people experiencing homelessness. The VISTA volunteers will strengthen their host agencies’ current programs through fundraising, volunteer recruitment, event planning, educational programming and other administrative tasks. VISTA volunteers work behind the scenes to build the capacity of their host organization.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Opportunities are available in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Taos, Los Lunas, Silver City, Las Cruces, Gallup and Farmington. VISTA positions are a full-time, year-long commitment beginning November 2014.

VISTA positions are open to all US citizens, nationals, and lawful permanent resident aliens age 18 or older.

Other Information/Requirements: 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability in working well with others
• Highly organized and self-motivated
• Must be available November 4-7th to attend a pre-service mandatory training in Dallas

Members receive a modest living allowance of approximately $900 per month, health coverage and childcare, if needed. Other benefits include student loan forbearance or deference and an educational award or cash stipend at the completion of service.
