VISTA Volunteer - Community Outreach, Service-Learning Project, and Fundraising

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

• Serve year-long AmeriCorps VISTA commitment beginning November 2015
• Increase community awareness and involvement in SHC-NM by coordinating a service-learning project in area schools and developing and coordinating a community outreach program.
• Increase unrestricted funding by assisting the resource development department with quarterly fundraising campaigns.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

• Work with partner schools, teachers, businesses, and volunteers to implement SHC-NM Service Learning Project
• Develop presentation materials and evaluation tools for Community Outreach Program
• Assist resource development department with coordination of fundraising campaigns to include staff and volunteer recruitment, event logistics, marketing, sponsor recruitment, and donor acknowledgement.

Other Information/Requirements: 

• Passionate about mission to end homelessness
• Excellent interpersonal, written, computer, and public speaking skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Experience working with volunteers and school age children preferred
• 21 years or older; valid driver’s license; required background check
• Attend AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer training

Members receive a modest living allowance of $973 per month and support with childcare if needed. Other benefits include student loan forbearance or deference and a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award or post-service stipend.
