Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Arc New Mexico has a newly created position in a grant funded Sexual Assault Services Program for individuals with intellectual/ developmental disabilities. Primary function of the Victim Advocate is to provide advocacy, technical assistance, information, referral and outreach to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities who are victims of sexual assault.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

FT, exempt position which requires availability for 24/7 on call services to respond to individuals presenting to medical or legal entities as having been the recent victims of sexual assault. Requires routine travel in a 6-county area and some intermittent overnight travel. Ability to get and maintain Victim's Advocate Certification.

Other Information/Requirements: 

HS Diploma/GED with minimum 1-year of experience in a support or advocate position for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities req'd. Ability to pass a criminal background screening.
Preferred: 1) experience in sexual assault services 2) BA in social work, psychology, criminal justice or related degrees 3) paralegal or similar experience.
