Main Areas of Responsibility: 

NMLA seeks 2 staff Staff Attorneys to handle a wide range of cases for low-income individuals/families on poverty law, including but not limited to Public Housing, Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program, foreclosure & other federally subsidized housing programs. Staff Attorneys will be active in local bar & community activities. Work includes representing clients in court/administrative hearings, participating in community education/outreach & recruiting/collaborating with pro-bono attorneys.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

The NMLA office in Albuquerque handles a wide range of creative, challenging and complex work. We are looking for highly motivated candidates who are passionate about and strongly committed to helping NMLA better serve our client communities, including development of effective team strategies to handle complex advocacy and extended representation cases.

Other Information/Requirements: 

2 years’ experience as a licensed attorney preferred. Must be willing to travel. Must be able to effectively use computer technology, remote communications systems, shared online workspaces. web meeting/videoconferencing software, effectively collaborate/co-counsel with staff in multiple offices. Possess excellent written/oral communication skills, the ability to multitask, manage a caseload, and build collaborative relationships within the staff and community. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
