Main Areas of Responsibility: 

We are looking for candidates to assist our program in training service dogs for military veterans afflicted with post-traumatic stress disorder and/or traumatic brain injury. This is a full time position as a mid-level trainer with a minimum six-month probationary period. Potential wage increase following successful completion of probation. Potential for future promotion into upper-level Trainer positions.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Trainers conduct and observe weekly private training sessions, attend group classes, training clinics, workshops, staff meetings, and other program meetings and training events. Trainers also track Veteran/Service Dog Team progress, file reports and fulfill other Programs Department duties as needed.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Minimum of 5 years dog training experience using non-aversive, force-free, reward based techniques. Experience training service dogs, especially co-owned training is preferred. Background check and mental health screening (upon offer of employment).Physically able to handle large, untrained dogs. Be mobile in training settings for hours at a time. Must have reliable transportation. Experience working with military, PTSD, and/or TBI helpful.
