Staff Attorney - Volunteer Attorney Program

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

NMLA is seeking a staff attorney to work with the Volunteer Attorney Program’s New Mexico Volunteer Lawyers for Family Justice Project. Collaborate with partner agencies to recruit, train and support volunteer attorneys, paralegals and law students for a campaign designed to deliver significant pro bono legal assistance to low-income families to resolve family law conflicts and related legal issues. Based in Albuquerque.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

The staff attorney will also coordinate training and support for NMLA’s DirectLaw pro bono web portal, to help volunteer attorneys located in urban areas easily access web-based resources and communicate securely online and via video-conferencing with clients throughout the state, giving priority to under-served rural families and single-parent households.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Candidates must be licensed in New Mexico or eligible for admission by examination or licensed in another state and eligible for reciprocity admission or for New Mexico legal aid providers limited licensing. Prior experience working with pro bono programs or handling pro bono cases is a plus.
