Staff Attorney and Paralegal for Victims of Crime Act project

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

NMLA will hire an experienced staff attorney and an experienced paralegal to do outreach and provide direct civil legal services in this region. Clients will be assisted with protection orders and with a range of other legal issues arising from their victim status so that they may lead safer, more financially secure lives.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Project partner NM Victims' Rights Project will assist with outreach, train staff and referring agencies, and provide direct victim advocacy. Outreach efforts will include collaboration with law enforcement, prosecutors and health professionals where victims often first seek help.

Other Information/Requirements: 

At least three years’ experience as a licensed attorney preferred. Must be licensed in New Mexico, or eligible for licensing by reciprocity. Must be willing to travel. Must be able to effectively use computer technology and remote communications systems. Candidates also must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, manage a caseload and build collaborative relationships. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
