Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

New Mexico Legal Aid is seeking a staff attorney to join our Roswell office. The staff attorney will represent low-income individuals and families in a wide variety of poverty law areas including family law, housing, public benefits, and consumer law issues.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

The Roswell office handles creative, challenging and complex work throughout southeastern and east central New Mexico. The Staff Attorney especially will help NMLA expand its Rural Advocacy Project, funded by the New Mexico Supreme Court’s Fund for Access to Justice, in the Hobbs and Carlsbad areas. We are looking for highly motivated candidates who are passionate and strongly committed to helping NMLA better serve rural communities.

Requirements: Experience with advocacy in rural communities will be highly preferred. Must be willing to travel. Candidates also must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, manage a significant caseload and build collaborative relationships within the staff and the community. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
