Main Areas of Responsibility: 

New Mexico Legal Aid is seeking a staff attorney to be based in Albuquerque or Santa Fe to work with the Volunteer Attorney Program’s Justice for Families Project. The staff attorney’s duties will include collaboration with the New Mexico Women’s Bar Association and the Southwest Women’s Law Center, to recruit, train and support volunteer attorneys, paralegals and law students for a “One Woman, One Case” campaign designed to deliver pro bono legal assistance to low-income families.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Key case areas for this project will include family law, housing law, consumer issues, public benefits cases and other issues affecting economic security for low-income families. The attorney will be active in local bar and community activities and will participate in community education and outreach to eligible clients. The staff attorney also will collaborate closely with staff in all NMLA offices throughout the state.
