Main Areas of Responsibility:
Interviewing applicants on legal issues, providing legal info and advice, referrals, and brief services such as reviewing legal documents, fill out legal forms, write simple letters, brief advocacy calls on behalf of clients and guidance for pro se clients
Additional Areas of Responsibility:
An IRA Attorney may also be asked to provide initial pleadings or other documents in emergency cases. If appropriate, the Intake Attorney will also prepare the client case to be transferred for extended services by an NMLA practice group or specialty unit. Referrals may also be made to NMLA's statewide Volunteer Attorney Program.
