Senior Director of Development (SDD)

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

We are looking for a Senior Development Director who is passionate about donor stewardship and, loves to think strategically about inspiring greater giving to help support the operations and future plans of our leading shelter. In this position, you will report to the Executive Director and be directly responsible for overseeing the Development Team and the execution of all fundraising programs that support current and future operating budgets, and special projects.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Responsible for establishment of Major Gifts & Friends of the Clinic giving campaigns, success of newsletter, direct mail strategy, growing donor base, employee giving programs, and grant submissions. Oversees team responsible for gift processing, data entry and acknowledgement. Responsible for planned giving strategy & interactions with donors considering estate gifts. Work with Executive Director (ED) creating and executing fundraising plan. Work with ED and CFO on developing departmental operating budget.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Bachelor’s Degree (required), MA (highly desirable)
CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) preferred.
5+ years experience in development; supervisory experience required
Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team
Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications
Highly organized and goal and deadline driven
Demonstrated understanding of donor database software as well as Microsoft Office
A passion and love for animals
