Seasonal Environmental Educator

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The seasonal educator will assist in the development and implementation of school and youth based programs conducted by Audubon New Mexico. The educator will lead groups of elementary students outdoors and in-classrooms through innovative environmental education activities and curricula at the Randall Davey Audubon Center and Sanctuary (RDAC) and in Santa Fe schools; the educator will also be responsible for the safety and well-being of summer campers during week-long day camps.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

-Mentor teen youth volunteers during summer camp;
-Maintain and enhance existing activities/curricula, including the upkeep of program materials and resources;
-Serve as a role model naturalist and environmental steward to students and community;
-Assist as necessary with daily operations at RDAC;
-Interact with the public to provide information about Audubon and Audubon’s mission, answer specific questions for visitors associated with the Randall Davey Audubon Center

Other Information/Requirements: 

The position is temporary, starting at 30 hours per week between March and May, then transitioning to 40 hours per week during summer camp (from June through August 3rd) for a total of 20 weeks.
Projected start date is March 12, 2018 and projected end date is August 3, 2018. Weekday, some evening, and some weekend work required.
Experience in environmental education and working with children required. Background check required.
