Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The SANE Coordinator oversees day-to-day operations of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Unit, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed care to survivors of sexual violence. This role bridges clinical practice and administrative leadership, supporting SANE staff, managing scheduling and inventory, coordinating interagency relationships, and assisting in quality improvement efforts. While not required to conduct exams, RN licensure and forensic nursing experience are strongly preferred.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Coordinate SANE schedules and ensure 24/6 coverage. Serve as main point for exam activation and partner coordination. Support hiring, onboarding, and staff training. Oversee supplies and documentation. Track program data and assist with QA. Represent the unit in multidisciplinary meetings. May provide exams if licensed. Ensure trauma-informed, confidential, and survivor-centered care throughout.

Other Information/Requirements: 

NM-licensed RN (preferred) with SANE-A or SANE-P certification (or eligible). 2+ years’ experience in forensic nursing, crisis response, or related field. Skilled in team coordination, admin tasks, and EMR/data systems. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Culturally responsive to Indigenous, rural, and underserved communities.
