Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Arc of NM is seeking a Public Policy Program Manager to act as liaison between policy makers including the legislature, Arc staff, and Arc constituents across the state. Ensuring that the latest information about statutes and regulations is available and shared regarding guardianship, Medicaid and special needs trusts.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Develop The Arc NM’s legislative platform prior to the beginning of each legislative session throughout the year; develop and draft public policy positions, statutes, amendments, and new legislation to achieve needed changes in policy direction; provide regular public policy updates to The Arc CEO, Arc BOD, Arc Staff and Arc constituents, and; maintain and update social media platforms.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Minimum required: Bachelor’s degree in the field of Social Services and particular knowledge in the Legislative Process at the state and federal levels. Preferred: Master’s Degree in social services, political science, or public policy-related discipline; proven experience in the ability to influence the development of regulations affecting services and providing support to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
