Public Lands Specialist

Full-Time
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

-Lead between BLM/USFS for the advancement and realization of collaborative management at the Bears Ears National Monument
-Oversees implementation of the Coalition's Land Management Plan, emphasizing incorporation of Traditional Ecological Knowledge
-Conducts review, analysis, and research on legislation/policy to assess implications for Bears Ears and its Tribal Coalition members

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

-Cultivates working partnerships across the Coalition Tribes, and governmental agencies, congressional allies, consultants, grassroots, and other partners.
-Leads collaborative management activities; coalesce Tribal perspective into management practices, implement Tribal recommendations, and inform federal land decisions at Bears Ears National Monument.
-Supports general operations: capacity building, project management, and public relations.

Other Information/Requirements: 

-Education or practical knowledge of federal Indian law and policy, and topical knowledge of: federal trust responsibility, tribal sovereignty, and indigenous rights.
-Experience in environmental justice, sustainability, and indigenous land and rights issues.
-Knowledge/experience with conservation and environmental related activities, including managing projects and leading cross functional and diverse groups.
