Project Attorney - Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault & Stalking Legal Helpline

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

This position will have a statewide focus in leveraging NMLA domestic violence advocacy resources and serving as a representative to partner agencies, key stakeholders and clients regarding legal services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. This position is currently funded through 6/30/2019 and will be located in the Albuquerque office.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Candidate is expected to:
• establish and coordinate DV Helpline services
• answer DV helpline questions
• handle cases in family law/domestic violence
• participate in community education and outreach to domestic violence victims, providers and other stakeholders around the state
• train on relevant legal topics
• participate in the recruitment of DV Helpline pro bono and volunteer attorneys
• participate in a public education campaign promoting the Helpline services.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Ideal candidate is a self-starter, requires limited supervision; possesses excellent writing and communication skills. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus, also:
• Advocacy experience in the areas of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking preferred.
• Admitted to the State Bar of New Mexico, or licensed in another state and eligible for admission by reciprocity or for New Mexico limited legal aid license
