PRN Resident Advocate

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The YWCA Henderson House is a housing program for veteran women experiencing homelessness.
The Resident Advocate is responsible to assist residents in performing routine tasks, helps residents in learning to live independently, gain social skills, re-integrate into the community, and assist with skill enhancement in accordance with each resident’s independent development plan. This is an on call position with varying shifts.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Implement effective program of care. Develop supportive relationships with residents. Ensure the goals of the residents are being met. Recommend approval or denial of visitors and off-site community passes. Maintain accurate records and reports on a daily basis. Ensure house rules are followed and curfews are met. Maintain daily communication with the house manager. Exhibit professionalism that enhances his/her performance, and that of the team, program and organization.

Other Information/Requirements: 

2-3 years experience working with homeless or behavioral health services. Experience with Veteran population a plus. Ability to intervene during crisis situations. Adequate vision and hearing to be able to supervise clients properly. Ability to work in stressful situations and maintain sense of humor and positive attitude. Commitment to the mission of the YWCA New Mexico.
