Policy Officer, Good Government Reform

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Thornburg Foundation is seeking highly qualified applicants to lead its Good Government Reform Initiative, which supports the advancement of transparent, ethical and representative government by increasing disclosure, accountability and public participation. The GGR Policy Officer position will be responsible for working with grantees to develop a multi-year grantmaking program consistent with the Foundation’s strategic plan.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

• Work in a bipartisan way to build coalitions and engage diverse stakeholders in any strategy, such as national and local business organizations, community and elected officials, legal experts, nonprofit organizations, foundations and community-based organizations.
• Ongoing engagement and consultations with national, regional and state funders and funding collaboratives around good government reform work.

Other Information/Requirements: 

• Experience building issue-advocacy strategies to advance long-term policy objectives: preferred.
• Understanding of the New Mexico political landscape: strongly preferred
• Undergraduate degree in public policy, business, political science, journalism or related field: required
• Master's degree or Juris Doctor: preferred.
• Occasional national travel required
• Applicant must pass a background check
