Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Policy Officer (PO) is a senior leader, responsible for advancing a policy agenda aligned with NMBLC's mission to improve Black communities' lives in New Mexico. Reporting jointly to Executive and Deputy Directors, PO leads strategic policy development, community-informed advocacy, civic engagement, staff supervision and strategic oversight of The Chisholm Table.

Engage in Community & Team Immersion
Legislative Monitoring and Government Relations
Produce Thought Leadership and Policy Communications
Advance Inclusive Civic Engagement via The Chisholm Table
Collaborate with Executive Leadership on Short- and Long-Term Planning
Staff Leadership and Organizational Alignment

Other Information/Requirements: 

Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Public Policy, Political Science, Social Work, Education, or related field; Master’s preferred.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in policy advocacy, government relations, or community-based policy work.
Experience supervising teams and working in / with nonprofit organizations.
Demonstrated success advancing policy goals.
Requires regular travel to Santa Fe.

Salary Range: 
$80,000.00 – $92,000.00 per year
