Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Under the direction of the Pharmacist Manager and Chief Medical Officer, the Pharmacy Technician works within the scope defined and allowed by the NM Board of Pharmacy and performs activities related to the inventory, typing prescription labels, stocking the shelves, preparation and distribution of prescription medications for labeling by and in support of physicians, midlevel practitioners, and nurses who provide direct patient care at La Familia Medical Center (LFMC).

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Receives prescriptions from providers or patients and verifies that required information is on the form;
Provides prescription labels, which includes information such as patient name, clinician’s name, name of medication and dosage instructions; gives to Pharmacist or physician for review and completion of labeling for prescription medication;
Checks inventory and stocks every ten days; Helps with curbside pick-up;

Other Information/Requirements: 

High school graduate or GED certificate and graduation from a technical school with appropriate degree and /or certification such as approved Pharmacy Technician Program required; Pharmacy Technician trainee accepted with the intent to certify within 1 year. Six months of related experience is required or any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by Human Resources. New Mexico certification as a EXCPT or PTCB and CPR and First Aid certification required.
