Main Areas of Responsibility:
A Family Peer Support Specialist will provide emotional support aimed at increasing women’s confidence and self-esteem, informational support focused on sharing knowledge and building skills, instrumental support that is intended to provide support in accomplishing tasks like accessing community resources, and affiliation support which supports women in learning social skills, creating a sense of belonging, and building a community.
Additional Areas of Responsibility:
• Peer Service Specialist Certification or the ability to obtain certification within six months of employment.
• Requires basic knowledge and belief in trauma-informed, gender specific, and culturally competent service delivery.
• Knowledge and understanding of the principles of trauma treatment and trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and strengths-based substance abuse and mental health recovery.
