Parent Educator

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

This FT AmeriCorps member position assists in the planning, coordination, and implementation of the AVANCE-NM parent-child education program. By providing education and support services to families in at-risk communities, AVANCE strives to strengthen the family unit by enhancing parenting skills, which fosters the personal and economic success of parents, and nurtures the development of their children to promote the educational success of their children.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Knowledge and experience in the organization, management, and administration of child/family support and outreach services; works well with others; strong communication and interpersonal skills; exhibits a willingness to assist in the personnel development of low-income families; plans and organizes events and activities; available evenings and weekends; flexible to meet the needs of the families and the AVANCE-NM program; computer proficiency; fluent in both Spanish and English

Other Information/Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, or other related field, or two or more years of experience in formal or informal classroom setting
• One or more years of experience working with adults and/or children in a family support services environment
